BEAN’s 2018 IDB Grant Program is in full swing!

Every year the Biodiversity Education and Awareness Network awards micro-grants to organizations hosting events in celebration of the International Day for Biodiversity (IDB) which occurs annually on May 22. Organizations can apply for up to $500 to help support eligible events that occur between May 1, 2018 and June 29, 2018. Events can take place anywhere in Ontario and applications are accepted in English and French. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 23, 2018.

In the past, BEAN has supported a wide variety of events including BioBlitz’s, invasive species removal, native plant sales, shoreline restorations, water festivals, and biodiversity education and fun days! Events are highly diverse and the criteria is broad – if it’s biodiversity-related, it’s eligible!

If you are planning on submitting an application, be sure to check out the Application Guidelines and don’t forget to submit a proposed budget! Applicants are encouraged to link their events to the 2018 IDB theme: Celebrating 25 Years of Action for Biodiversity. Past applicants are welcome to apply again and organizations may submit multiple applications if they are planning on hosting multiple events.

Mark your calendars!

Applications are being accepted until Friday, March 23, 2018. Applicants can expect to a response from BEAN by April 13, 2018 and will received an e-mail whether they were successful or not. IDB events will occur in May and June and successful applicants must submit their event report forms by June 30, 2018.
